Madách Culture Centre. Competition.
Vác, a middle size town nearby the Hungairian capital, called for a competition to renew its futuristic soc-modern Culture Hall from the 70’s and add a library extension. As an independent team, we defined the main goal as “creating spaces that actually attract life and fun” with a spectrum of activites, and in return involve cultural functions into public circulation, unlike number of yawning cultural developments.
The design adds a bridge-like two-story rotated extension, which spans above the flat part of the original building and sensitively connects to the circular theatre space. Beyond the required library, the building and the park include interior and exterior leisure and study spaces, rooftop sport fields and sun terrace, and skateboard and workout elements around the building in a natural garden environment.
